last time i checked the heater controls were about £180.
and second hand ones are rare for the standard AC controls

Yeah I didn't think the heated seats were going to be as easy as the lumbar support anyaay. The garage I spoke too said they will just get the power from somewhere else for the lumbar support and then look into the heated seats later...

Looking like I might be waiting a while for that to be done tbh, didn't realise it was £180 for the controls!! :(

Do we have any kind of trade discount on here to help me bring that price down...or does the masterfit discount entitle me to money off parts like that?

Discounts on parts are really only on service parts unless you are spending big money on parts.

I tend to use Autovaux as they come in cheaper.

you will be getting much better seats ether way

Haha yeah good point, actually got them for a fair price too...I was going to buy the heating control now and ask for it all to be done on the same day, probably better getting the heated seats done at a later date though after they have had time to inspect the car aren't I, just in case they can't do it

they wont have a problem getting the lumber support to work
as long as they use to correct pins
and honestly when you sit in them you will be happy

Oh it's not the lumbar support i'm worried they won't sort, it's the heating bit...I was going to buy that heater control right now but don't want to spend £150 on it, get there and then they tell me that they just don't know how too or can't get the heating aspect working...

chance you would have to take
i can not really comment on that till i have seen the connector
as i said we know you dont have the fuse there so no power
it all depends on what signal wires are missing
if we can see that then we can try and work it out from there
but you will need the controls at some point

Yeah I understand mate, appreciate your help too, honestly i'd be stuffed without the help from you guys! I can;t get that picture for you that's all, I won't have time to pull the seats out before i take it to the garage.

And i won't need the controls at all though will I if I never get the heating working as that's all they're use for isn't it seat wise?

If you don't do the heated seat part forget the control panel.

My advise is this.

Get the seats fitted when the garage remove the seats ask them if they can take some clear pictures of the connection in the car, not the seat and ask if they can mark what wires are there from pin out (i post).

Let them get the lumber working and then we can see what you have/don't and can advise from there.

With all the Info I'm going to post if this garage is worth it's salts they will be able to work it all out and get the heated seats working off the heater panel.

Following on from my post above and having a chance to look at the schematics I would say the best way for them to get the power for the heated seats would be to have a fused wire off the battery which runs into a relay which has an ignition live feed (that can be taken off the cig lighter wire)

I'll do as you have suggested, will speak with them when I get there and tell them everything that's in this thread (and leave them with the thread link too!) and then make sure they take that photo and stick it on here right away once i get back and will also report back as to what their verdict is about the heated seats too.

I understand what you're saying about the schematics too so appreciate you posting that for me, that should help the garage massively if they're at all stuck as to how they can get the heated seat option working

Thanks mate! Will come in handy if I need to use this garage again to do the heated bit will probably organise a trip to see rusty though I think.

They managed to install everything and get everything working minus the heating element anyway! I'm made up with it see the photos below of them installed in my car

Okay thanks! That will have to wait till another weekend though unfortunately, won't do any harm leaving the creases there till I get chance to blow dry them will it?

NICE :cool they will settle down plenty of leather conditioner
and as rusty says a blow dryer will help also

sure rusty can get the door cards on for you
and get the ambient door lights working
and the lumber support and have a look at the heated seats also
worth a visit.

also you can start a progress thread if you wish in the progress thread section
seeing as you are making such good progress already,

what do you think on the seats there much better than the standard ones for sure.

Ooooo good idea! I'll do that today/tomorrow done a fair amount of mods and got lots of pics and still a few more mods I wan't to do too! Yeah I think they're great! Very comfy and the lumbar support really goes into my lower back and supports it well VERY cold though atm!! Haha. Do you have them in yours then and did they come as standard?

no i retro fitted my leather seat as well
but i have lumber support on both seats as there pre 2012
and both are heated also :cool

Hi Guys,

So the cowboy who fitted my seats appears to have not done the back one properly and/or broke the clip while doing it. Basically the back seat isn't clipped into the actual base properly so I can lift it up really easily. From feeling around it feels like one of the metal prongs which is covered with a black plastic clip isn't actually clipping into the base properly...it actually feels like the black plastic clip is broken.

Does anyone know where i can get another one of these from?

There should be a black bit which goes into a white bit or other way round, I will get the part number later for you it will be a Vauxhall or autovaux order thou.

I've seen the black clip which sits on top of (covers) the metal prongs which are in the seat cushion, that's still there but feels broken and just isn't clipping into anything in the seat frame...so not sure which I'd need...ill order both if they are cheap.

look at these pictures from the how to
see the white plastic cap they need to be pushed onto the black metal clips
on the bench first before the lower bench is put back in place
and then clip the bench back in to the holes

Ahhhh! No I don't think I do, as I say I can't see it because the bench is down but when I have the seats to the guy it only had one black clip over a metal prong. I assumed he would take what he needed from the other seats but apparently he didn't.

I never saw those white clips anyway, just black ones which fit loosely over the metal u shape prong as I say. Looks like I'm missing that white plug..

sounds like they broke the white plastic caps getting them out
so you are just left with the inside metal part
when you take the lower bench out they tend to stay in the holes
then they need to be removed from the holes and put back on the clips on the seat
before they go back in the holes check the old seat and see if they are there
if not sure there not very expensive to replace

Will try and lift the bench out when i get a minute to see if its stuck in the hole or not...think ill have to buy this part once rusty gets back to me with it anyway

its worth a look as the old ones may well be there
if so you need to push both sides of the clip and pull up
to get them out off the hole

Not sure if that's the part I'll need now...I reached under the cushion and into the hole in the actual car frame and I was able to pinch a piece of plastic (assuming this is the white one stuck in the hole) if this is still there then it must he the black clip that's broken otherwise it would all just clip in when I push down in it wouldn't it?

You need both parts and both must be on the metal U clip before you fix the seat back down, the above part number has the white and black part.

you are going to have to push real hard to get the new ones back on the metal hooks
then when they are on the hooks then fit the rear seat and push the seat down above were the caps are so they go in the hole

Hmmm didn't realise the black thing clipped onto the u shaped metal prong so tightly...they were literally falling off just from slight movement when I was getting them to the garage...any idea why they even made it so you had to put the black bit over the prong AND THEN pop the whole lot into the white clip and not just sack the idea of the black bit off?

Got the clip today and the back bit is already tightly stuck inside the white bit...can I just slot the whole thing onto the metal prongs or do I have to remove the black bit and fit that first...?

yer they just push on to the hooks on the seat as they are with the black bit still inside the white bit
then just bang the seat down and it will fix in place

Yeah that's just what I did just went for it rigjt after posting my question :P ha. Bought my soldering iron too to tidy up the gear stick wiring and also to do the door LEDs!

it is common to brake them clips when removing the seat

Yeah probably the garage that broke it! But all sorted now and cleaned the interior too with the leather cleaner

Just out of interest what did people pay for their seats. Found someone selling a set in Leeds and swears they in great condition but bit for to go if price isn't right.
