Spare wheel - Lammydave - 22:nd-Oct-2017

my 1.6 elite has 17" wheels, but the spare is a pot of sealer... hmmm...

not sure I'm happy with that

I'm quite comfortable with a spacesaver and have seen a few for sale, but they all seem to be 16"

Is this the correct one for my car??

thank you

That is correct a full size spare will not fit in the hole.

Yes, as the profile of the tyre is bigger. Make sure you get the correct wheel for your braking system though. i.e. J60 or J67.

I went down the same route and replaced my can of goo for a space saver. Cost me approx. £100. for a 2nd hand jack kit, new wheel, and I was fortunate that the space saver tyre on my old Vectra-C was the same size and got it fitted to the new wheel. I had recently written off the Vectra and was waiting for the insurance Co to take it away, minus a space saver of course

New kits at the time were something like £220. So see if you can source 2nd hand if possible. I suspect there will be more available now than when I was trying to hunt a space saver kit down.
