The dreaded Space Saver - AndyKay - 7:th-Jul-2017 Every time I buy a new car, the first thing I do with it is to check what sort of spare it has - if it's a space saver I buy a full size spare to match the other alloys. I now have a cellar full of brand new space savers, and I have never had a puncture! My current Astra Tourer SE, purchased nearly a year ago has been the only exception. As I've been puncture free since the 1970s when I had my first Vauxhall (Droop Snoot (Magnum) Sportshatch 2.3) , I left the space saver in place. Mistake.......! I had part of a wagon's braking system impale itself in one of the rear tyres, destroying it beyond repair! I had to use the space saver! Never again - I need a full size spare! Can anybody suggest the best option? I have looked for a wheel the same size as mine...... 8J offset 46, tyre 235/45R18....... without success! Any advice would be more than welcome please. RE: The dreaded Space Saver - Rusty2009 - 8:th-Jul-2017 What engine do you have and what style of wheel do you have? I don't know if the tourer has room for a full size spare as the hatchback can only fit a space saver.
