Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - Cameron UK - 12:th-Apr-2014

So I'm planning to map my 5 door once my warranty runs out but I've got a few questions, please respond with corresponding numbers:
1. How much am I going to pay, I want the best
2. Can I opt for bhp increase AND mpg increase?
3. What are the downsides of a map?
4. Why don't manufacturers out these maps on in the factory?
5. Can anyone recommend any good places to get it done

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - J1ODYA - 12:th-Apr-2014

1. £350-500
2. A map optimises the cars performance thus increasing power & the by-product is an increase in mpg.
3. Once it's done, it's done... A dtuk box can be removed & sold on. Greater wear on the vehicle I.e. clutch but no doubt minimal.
4. Because of efficiency & emissions usually.

Would this be a good option??

Diesel Tuning box for Vauxhall/opel Astra J (2011 Stop Start) 2.0cdti 165 Ps

Just spoke to dtuk, they said you can't map the latest vauxhall, I can get the one above with free fitting for £300

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - J1ODYA - 12:th-Apr-2014

I had the red dtuk you fit yourself, no experience of crd box.

Had heard that the latest software update makes the dtuk box stop working.

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - Rusty2009 - 12:th-Apr-2014

I did post about the DTUK box and software problem.

TBH I think you will find that the Astra can be mapped and has been mapped.

A custome map will always be better than a tuning box using a generic map. Get one with a rolling road so it can be tuned specifically for your cares dynamics.

Try performance Torque. Well priced and the chap really knows his stuff. He does some fantastic jobs

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - tucpal - 13:th-Apr-2014

don't waste your money on a DTUK box
as said above there is a software update from vauxhall going around at the moment that is making the DTUK red box not work correctly
get a proper map done go to thorney motorsport 35ps 75nm TMS - ECU remap - by Thorney Motorsport
or use bluefin super chips this is a removable map 25 bhp 73nm https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CDwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.superchips.co.uk%2F&ei=FNBJU52SHIaO0AWkyYDoAw&usg=AFQjCNG0_YzHlWQLDtULkw9WimG19UGasA&sig2=Ymp0rsT70KGaG5WNhpehtw&bvm=bv.64542518,d.d2k
or regal autosport not sure on what they can do but there good

but dont waste your time on a mobile mapper

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - cornishtaz - 13:th-Apr-2014

There's a fix out for the DTUK box, something ti do with swapping the 5v and 12v lines. The thread is on *** in the DTUK trader section

Thorny maps are over priced and the warrenty isn't worth the paper it's written on. Use performance torque save yourself £150, they're not a mobile mapper and have a great reputation on a lot of other forums.

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - tucpal - 13:th-Apr-2014

i agree that thorny maps are a tad expensive
well glad there is a fix for the DTUK red box
but i still think mapping is better

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - J1ODYA - 13:th-Apr-2014

Mapping is better but dtuk boxes are good... I have had both lol

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - tucpal - 13:th-Apr-2014

the pedal box DTUK do is excellent thou every car should have one

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - Dicko - 13:th-Apr-2014

Try this guy antonio very good with vauxhalls £500 for a custom map for your car 230 bhp out of the 2.0 cdtdi astra once the lock is taken out of the ecu

No doubt they are saying it can't map the latest Vauxhall's as they only sell tuning box's and don't offer a remap service.

It may be expensive but it's a one of map for you and you car
And as it's a try core ecu it has to be unlocked by a specialist before he xan map the car
He is one of the small amount of people who I would trust with my pride and joy
Mine is going to him very soon
230 bhp it would be rude not to

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - cornishtaz - 13:th-Apr-2014

Bhp isn't everything what's the torque

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - Dicko - 13:th-Apr-2014

I was trying to post a link but for some reason it keeps coming up that I am not allowed to copy this website for some reason

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - J1ODYA - 13:th-Apr-2014

I am amazed by the bhp gains if it's solely by a remap

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - mrobins64495 - 13:th-Apr-2014

You'll never get a 230bhp from a 2.0cdti, on it's own. Plus the gearbox wouldn't handle the torque anyway 400nm is the max for the F40 box.

You'll get 190 - 200bhp from a 2.0cdti much more would be way to much strain on the engine and any good mapper should tell you that.

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - mrobins64495 - 13:th-Apr-2014

J1ODYA Wrote:I am amazed by the bhp gains if it's solely by a remap

If it looks to good to be true as they say.

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - oweh - 23:rd-Apr-2014

Does having a remap affect a lifetime warranty ??

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - Cameron UK - 23:rd-Apr-2014

oweh Wrote:Does having a remap affect a lifetime warranty ??

Yes, simples

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - Kevin - 23:rd-Apr-2014

oweh Wrote:Does having a remap affect a lifetime warranty ??

Only if they know about it!

The problem will be if they do a software update/check.

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - tucpal - 24:th-Apr-2014

kevin is correct they can find it if they want to but they would have to have reason to look for it
bluefin is a removable map that you can take off if you want when you go back to the dealers and then put it back on after
or fit a tuning box that you can also remove there the best options for the life time warranty

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - Kevin - 24:th-Apr-2014

Don't get it serviced at Vauxhall. That way there is less chance of them wiping it out by doing software updates when it's in!

Kevin Wrote:Don't get it serviced at Vauxhall. That way there is less chance of them wiping it out by doing software updates when it's in!

You still have to go back to vauxhall every year to reactivate the lifetime warranty and they plug it onto the MDI and do any updates etc.

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - tucpal - 24:th-Apr-2014

I am glad I don't have the life time warranty for this reason and if I do wish to have service updates I just take the bluefin off when it goes in

Why on earth would you not want a 100k mile warranty!!!

Rusty2009 Wrote:You still have to go back to vauxhall every year to reactivate the lifetime warranty and they plug it onto the MDI and do any updates etc.

I knew they had to pop back every year, just didn't realise they went to the hassle of plugging it in too.

Every day's a school day

Mapping 2.0cdti 5 door - JohnL - 24:th-Apr-2014

I heard somewhere that the ecu logs the last update date so they know if it had been mapped and then put back to standard.
