Painting engine covers - mrtc - 28:th-Mar-2016 Has anyone on here painted their wngibe cover. Im especially interested in painted cdti engine covers. Anyone? RE: Painting engine covers - bruce_19 - 29:th-Mar-2016 God I have done that in a few years and it was on different cars. I assume you are doing this to the plastic cover for the engine. I used to soak the cover in Gunk for a day to help get all the unwanted grit and oil off it then let it dry for a day. Now you have a couple of options 1 is just to slightly rough up the surface, clean and apply a high temp primer then paint or smooth it out and get it how you want then primer and paint. I always used high temp paint to reduce the likelihood of flaking or discolouration. RE: Painting engine covers - Rusty2009 - 29:th-Mar-2016 @Dicko painted one up, most people seem to be doing this hydo dipping now.
