RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - texaspete1973 - 11:th-May-2015

The car looks stunning mate, looks like you worked hard and the results speak for themselves.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 16:th-May-2015

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 16:th-May-2015

I LIKE THEM

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Rusty2009 - 17:th-May-2015

Have they changed it now then?

When I put my private plate on I went into my local DVLA office (now closed) and was given a new tax disc and told once I had the plates put them on didn't need to wait for logbook.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 17:th-May-2015

Ages ago.

There are no local DVLA offices anymore, it's a postal service at the moment.. Obviously no tax disk & they no longer change the MOT (original stays valid)

They already have an online retention service where you can retain a plate in 5 mins, it's also now £80 to retain instead of £105, and now lasts 10 years not 2 years.

They will soon be adding an online service to put the plate on the car too.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Rusty2009 - 17:th-May-2015

Bit of a bummer having no local offices really. but thanks for the info glad they've dropped price and extended the time.

Shame all those people found themselves out of a job tho.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 16:th-Jun-2015

Window tints are being done tomorrow afternoon Smile 5% on all rears Smile

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 16:th-Jun-2015

cool

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - J1ODYA - 16:th-Jun-2015

Careful as it may look like a van going that dark

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 16:th-Jun-2015

(16:th-Jun-2015, 21:59:26)J1ODYA Wrote: Careful as it may look like a van going that dark

I thought as the car is black it'd look good? I had 20% on my blue Vectra which looked decent but the next shade down he stocks is 5%

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 17:th-Jun-2015

Any more thoughts on this? They're being done at 2PM & I can decide when I get there lol

5% rears or 20% rears

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Rusty2009 - 17:th-Jun-2015

When I got mine done they had 3 samples and held them up for me to see what I wanted, I've gone for the darkest (whatever % that is).

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 17:th-Jun-2015

Just ask to have a look they will know best

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 17:th-Jun-2015

I remember last time I went in asking for 5% and he persuaded me to go for 20% but that was on a blue car, I think on a black car I can get away with darker

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 17:th-Jun-2015

So I went for 15% and I'm really pleased Smile

Also wired my sub in, took bloody hours!

Just need to tidy the wiring up, screw the fast plug down & put some trim round the wires.

Filthy & im desperate for 19's but can't find any :(

Before anyone says I've got the fuse the wrong end, I have one at both ends lol, the fast plug needed an extra short piece & I had a spare power lead so thought an extra fuse would do no harm.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Rusty2009 - 17:th-Jun-2015

Looking good mate need some hekos on it.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 17:th-Jun-2015

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 13:th-Jul-2015

Got myself a brand new set of metal pedal covers for £34 on eBay tonight, no other progress as it's just been a daily hack whilst I'm restoring a Peugeot 309.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - J1ODYA - 1:st-Aug-2015

Look in the for sale section as I have 19s for sale.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - cornishtaz - 1:st-Aug-2015

I know the H had it but was very troublesome. The RS has it and plenty get stolen due to a security issue.

Don't think I'd like it though

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 1:st-Aug-2015

Sorry what?

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 2:nd-Aug-2015

Think that went in the wrong section [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - cornishtaz - 2:nd-Aug-2015

Not sure what happened it was supposed to go in remote start thread

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 8:th-Aug-2015

My wheels are in a bad state so want to try and sort them for hull. What colour do we think? Grey or silver?

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 8:th-Aug-2015

I would stay silver on black

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - bhalay207 - 8:th-Aug-2015

Depends whether you want to go stealth. I personally would say stay silver

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Rusty2009 - 8:th-Aug-2015

Anthracite everyone is doing now.

TBH it goes well on a black car as I've done it is my progress thread.

What about 2 tone Anthracite inside to hide the brake dust and silver on the face?

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 8:th-Aug-2015

That does work I did that before deciding on anthracite I have now but a shade lighter like rusty had done looks very good [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 10:th-Aug-2015

So I was bored of my car so decided to paint the wheels, it's the most amateur wheel colour change you've ever seen lol.

Im thinking of this as more of a colour test for a proper refurb as I didn't repair the damage as I don't know how to lol.

I went for a Ford grey which I like, looks darker in pics though.

Havent put any tyre gel on as they need to cure first.

also managed to get some shots of my HIDS Direct 6000k H7R kit.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Rusty2009 - 10:th-Aug-2015

The wheels look nice mate, you would need some metal files and sand paper also some alloy putty.

This is my wife's alloys I did

Think I need a shade lighter. More gunmetal than they are as they're getting on for black! Also gonna change my HIDS from 6000k to 5000k.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 13:th-Aug-2015

4300 to 5000 is much better the alloys look good much better like that [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Tonto - 13:th-Aug-2015

Lights look good but think they'd be too blue perhaps?? Car is looking good mate! Would love that colour for my white J.

What rating at the lights mate?

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 13:th-Aug-2015

6000k are just too blue and the vision out put is poor at best I use 4300k and there perfect

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 12:th-Sep-2015

Over the moon with them

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 12:th-Sep-2015

they look much better
they massive aren't they welcome to the 19 club

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - SI SRI - 12:th-Sep-2015

19s do look brilliant. needs lowering now mate. I have the same 19s and mines lowered 40mm and it looks brilliant, but going on coilovers next as want it to look better at shows.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Rusty2009 - 12:th-Sep-2015

Welcome to the 19" club, they look nice.

I wouldn't go as low as 40mm as I think it's far too low for the J.

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Lewis6317 - 17:th-Sep-2015

@SI SRI I would buy your springs when you go to coilovers Smile

it got a free wash in the torrential rain yesterday lol

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - tucpal - 17:th-Sep-2015

well worth getting them they look real good

RE: JJ'S Astra Progress thread - Jj0063 - 20:th-Sep-2015

Yeah I'm so pleased with them although I do need some tyres very soon.

Gave it a clean today although I'm annoyed as my wash mitt must be ready for the bin as its left it covered in swirls. Think I'm gonna give up with detailing for a while as Amber will be having this for daily use in a few weeks when I get my company van & I also won't have time anymore
