car started then cut out after a few seconds - Rusty2009 - 19:th-Oct-2014 So yesterday on my run to the Port I had to relieve myself so Stopped at the services went in and used to toilet. Came back started the car no problems at all it ran for 2-3 seconds then cut out only message to pop up was to press clutch to start. Tried a few time and nothing every time I turned the key all the lights went out on the dash in the end I had to take the key out and then it was all ok. Anybody any ideas or had it happen to them? car started then cut out after a few seconds - tucpal - 19:th-Oct-2014 nope but ignition or clutch sensor would be the first place to look if it has not happened again then it may just be a glitch car started then cut out after a few seconds - Kevin - 20:th-Oct-2014 Just a thought, you didn't fold the key as you were turning the ignition?? Usually the security message would pop up though. Seems if the key is partially closed, the pick up on the ignition won't detect the chip in the key. On;ly cure is, as you did, remove the key and start again. car started then cut out after a few seconds - Rusty2009 - 21:st-Oct-2014 No Kev key wasn't folded I'll put the MDI on it later but think any fault codes were wiped when looking at the AFL. car started then cut out after a few seconds - JohnL - 22:nd-Oct-2014 A couple of people have reported issues on VXROnline where there the car won't start I believe they have had the clutch switch replaced. car started then cut out after a few seconds - Rusty2009 - 22:nd-Oct-2014 It's odd as it did start just shut off after a couple of seconds then would not start untill I removed the key and tried again. there was nothing on GDS today when I looked, I'll keep an eye on it and see if it happens again. thanks for the heads up, I know the was an issue on the early models over the brake and clutch sensor. RE: car started then cut out after a few seconds - Nello - 10:th-Jul-2015 Mine has done this but it's an automatic !! RE: car started then cut out after a few seconds - matheusl02 - 16:th-Mar-2016 My car has done this 3 or 4 times since I have had it, about 2 months or so. It will start fine, runs for a second or two, then cuts out. It has always restarts fine, and stays running from then onwards. It did it this morning, and I started it normally, with the clutch pedal fully pressed in. Do you think it is something to do with the clutch sensor, should I go to the Vauxhall garage to see what they say? Thanks all RE: car started then cut out after a few seconds - Rusty2009 - 17:th-Mar-2016 I would get it plugged to see if there are any fault codes stored (find an local garage as it will be far cheaper than VX). If there are no fault codes stored VX normally say no fault found. |
