Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 23:rd-Jun-2016

Hey mate, no you can unplug the factory connector from the USB and then plug in the blue connector pictured above. The extra USB with grey cable can be used elsewhere.

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - mrtc - 15:th-Jul-2016

hows is the astra. whats next for it?

Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 15:th-Jul-2016

Hello, Astra is good. The battery died 2 weeks ago and got a new one. Vauxhall wanted £176 but I got a Yuasa one for £107. Better ah and cca to!

Nothing planned for a little while as I need to get some debts paid off and get my money sorted! Ideally I'd like to got for front splitter next as I have the side skirts! Maybe exhaust, I'm so undecided lol.

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - mrtc - 15:th-Jul-2016

Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 15:th-Jul-2016

No I don't have stop start lol. Very expensive but never mind! 5 year warranty on this one

Few little things I've purchased to help me when working on the car!

First up I've finally purchased a trolley jack and axle stands. Never owned these before
[Image: fb75ac36e53f793edc63d10b36f71b37.jpg]

Then I purchased this awesome book!

Since I have this next week off I'm going to try and sort out my brake squeal, clean wheels thoroughly, then follow the how to to clean egr valve, throttle body and boost sensor. Car isn't playing up but thought I may as well give it once over.

And I may have new alloys shortly too

The Haynes manual is lacking so much information.

Really? I've only had a brief look so far. I'm sure it'll still come in handy for myself at least.

What is there is good abit unclear described in places but yes lacking quite a lot of information.

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - Mystic11 - 24:th-Aug-2016

Love the view with painted Front grill!!!

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - marcus - 24:th-Aug-2016

I bought the Haynes manual as well when I was trying to find out info about my inlet manifold coolant leak. I'm not brave enough to actually try any maintenance though. Best left to the professionals. Smile

Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 22:nd-Sep-2016

Wow been nearly a month since I last posted! Well tonight I got the next piece to the puzzle fitted!

Still need to get the headlight switch done and the needles on speedo green and then the driver info screen white/black. Then that's all for the interior for now.

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - Rusty2009 - 22:nd-Sep-2016

Looks so much better mate.

Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 5:th-Oct-2016

Thanks again to @Rusty2009 for the penultimate piece of my jigsaw!

Now I need to source some spare needles to have a go at painting green and then find someone local to do my speedo for me! This is how it should look once finished.

A very basic mock up

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - cornishtaz - 6:th-Oct-2016

You could use some mild tcut to remove the red paint and leave them clear and put some plcc2 leds to illuminate the needles

Ah good idea mate, I'll try it. I'll be changing the leds to green ones anyway! Will see how the t-cut looks when done.

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 17:th-Nov-2016

Nothing much happening recently except maintenance, I had two Uniroyal Rain Sport 3s put on and absolutely love them, very good grip in dry and wet conditions.

I had my timing belt, pulleys, tensioners, water pump and whatever else is included replaced today for piece of mind as the car is now at around 67,000 miles and will be 6 years old in March. Strangely the clutch pedal and gear changes feel smoother now, I don't know if that is meant to happen or what but I'm very happy with outcome.

Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 18:th-Nov-2016

I have also purchased a set of heated leather seats, door cards and prefacelift control panel for my J. Picking them up tomorrow morning, I can't wait!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - stigeye - 18:th-Nov-2016

I would love to get a set of leathers for our car, they make a massive difference to the look of the interior.

Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 18:th-Nov-2016

They certainly do mate, when I sat in @sheppy1 's car i just knew I had to get them for mine! A

So I got round to fitting rear leather seats and drivers seat only to find out the dreaded heated seat problem was there... I will finish installing passenger seat and leather door cards tomorrow!

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - marcus01 - 20:th-Nov-2016

Those leather seats look great. I'm tempted to do the same. Those LED's work without throwing errors. (are they the same ones as Sheppys? )

Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 20:th-Nov-2016

@marcus01 thanks mate, I love them. The leds do throw up errors unfortunately, but for how they look I can live with it! Me and @sheppy1 think that prefacelift gets errors and facelift models don't..

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - sheppy1 - 20:th-Nov-2016

It's odd... It could actually be that my car came from factory with led DRLs and I swapped to halogen ones and have now installed led bulbs... So it might be that my car is programmed to deal with the power load from the led bulbs

Finished putting the passenger seat in today and put the passenger leather door card on. Just three more to go.

Dan came round and I fitted the M072 unit to his 1.6cdti GTC with the dab module.

RE: Progress thread: Tonto - sheppy1 - 20:th-Nov-2016

Arrghhh not much you can do about that either... Just gonna have to live with it [PENSIVE FACE] glad ya like them though! Did you have to drill holes in the rear door cards for the winders or did it already have them?

Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Progress thread: Tonto - Tonto - 20:th-Nov-2016

Well there is a how to and roughly costs around £120 to fix by yourself but it's not something I'd like to try!

I think I'm going to have to drill holes but I haven't put them in yet!

Thanks to @Rusty2009 for converting my new heater panel for me as well.
