Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 7:th-Apr-2015 Hi Guys, So one of the things I am looking to do this month is install the chrome window trim so that it looks like the standard trim on the higher models...But from what I can tell the official trim has sort of a metal looks to it and it's not really chrome/shiny. Does anyone think the chrome looking trim which I'd be getting would look the same or just tacky? Thanks RE: Chrome Window Trim - Rusty2009 - 7:th-Apr-2015 TBH until we see on the car we can't answer that. RE: Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 7:th-Apr-2015 Just thought someone may have seen this installed on an Astra or even another car...Worried about it looking tacky is all. And it potentially rusting...which tbh it shouldn't do should it with it being stainless steel RE: Chrome Window Trim - Gilmore - 7:th-Apr-2015 Mines got the chrome trim an I've been thinking of getting it wrapped, black Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 7:th-Apr-2015 Haha both swapping to the others setup here aren't we! RE: Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 9:th-Apr-2015 Have ordered the chrome trim from the company who sold me the fog light trim...Apparently it's not something they stock and is being made for me. Will have it in around 3 weeks so will report back when it's installed to say how it looks . Not too fussed if it doesn't look like the genuine part, it will be chrome and will match my foglight trim so it's all good RE: Chrome Window Trim - Rusty2009 - 9:th-Apr-2015 Like a car with chrome RE: Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 9:th-Apr-2015 Haha i do too...seems that most people hate it but i think if used properly it's quite effective . Fingers crossed it doesn't develop green rust dots on it like the door handles did! however i think they were a different material and were from someone else Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 28:th-May-2015 My window trim came today! Took about 2 months but I think it was worth it! Before: After: It looks fantastic I think and pretty close to official too! Some parts aren't completely perfect I.e. its not lined up bang on but that was because I cut my thumb open on the metal trim and was bleeding quite a bit while trying to do this haha RE: Chrome Window Trim - tucpal - 28:th-May-2015 they look very good mate well worth waiting for RE: Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 28:th-May-2015 Thanks mate! Bit miffed that I cut myself and then wasn't paying attention so a few of them aren't bang on but probably not noticeable to others and if you're not looking closely. Will add this to my progress thread soon too RE: Chrome Window Trim - CRNeo - 28:th-May-2015 That actually looks way better than I thought it would! I'm lucky to have the stock chrome and think it looks good esp against silver. it's a good contrast on the black too. Are they heko deflectors? How do you find them, just ordered a set for mine. Chrome Window Trim - Rusty2009 - 28:th-May-2015 They do look much better than I thought they would mate. Don't worry the factory stuff doesn't line up 100%. Good to hear that even people with the stock ones are saying that they look good Yeah they're hekos, looks wise I think they're great! Also I can have the windows open a little bit now when its raining and I don't get wet through lol. But the car is noisier on the motorway than before I had them (28:th-May-2015, 23:20:42)Rusty2009 Wrote: They do look much better than I thought they would mate.Phew! Haha, that's the kind of thing that would have annoyed the hell out of me tbh but good to know even the stock stuff is that way (29:th-May-2015, 06:45:06)sotoskon Wrote: From who seller did you buy them?Cheers @dutton And these are from a seller on eBay called auto line accessories limited. I also got my fog light/indicator chrome trim from them too only reason it took so long for this to come was because he didn't actually stock it and it was a specialist request so he had to get the manufacturer in China to make it and ship it RE: Chrome Window Trim - sotoskon - 29:th-May-2015 How is the quality of parts? How much money did they cost? RE: Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 29:th-May-2015 (29:th-May-2015, 14:45:35)sotoskon Wrote: How is the quality of parts? How much money did they cost?Quality is great tbh! Made out of metal and feels and looks solid and parts are cut accurately. They use 3M tape too for the adhesive which is very strong! Quite thin too which is good as they don't stick out or look like they're aftermarket parts. Feels strong too even though its thin. Was about 85 quid delivered for all 16 pieces RE: Chrome Window Trim - sotoskon - 30:th-May-2015 I think that the parts are 12. 85 pounds including shipping or the shipping's costs are separately? I saw that the seller don't have the item in his ebay shop.Did he order for you extra? RE: Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 30:th-May-2015 Sorry could be yeah, and that's 85 including shipping . Yeah you have to email the seller and ask him for this specific part, they're very polite and helpful though! RE: Chrome Window Trim - sotoskon - 30:th-May-2015 Thanks.I sent to them an e-mail but i had an automatic response that they are closed until 31 May.i hope they answer to me... RE: Chrome Window Trim - sheppy1 - 30:th-May-2015 Yeah they will answer and maybe even will before 31st. I got a few auto responses but they always replied pretty quickly anyway. They reply out of hours too which is good so got a few late at night RE: Chrome Window Trim - Jamesw4 - 26:th-Jul-2015 Hi, can you let me know how you removed these? Thanks. RE: Chrome Window Trim - tucpal - 26:th-Jul-2015 the aftermarket ones ?? RE: Chrome Window Trim - Rusty2009 - 26:th-Jul-2015 If you want to remove the factory chrome trim it pulls off the rubber but it wouldn't advise you that unless you have tools to get back on again. RE: Chrome Window Trim - Jamesw4 - 27:th-Jul-2015 Yes I'm basically wanting to remove my chrome ones and wrap or plastidip them black. What sort of tools are needed to get them back on? Cheers RE: Chrome Window Trim - WhelanUK - 27:th-Jul-2015 I've heard it's easier and quicker to get them wrapped while on the car. RE: Chrome Window Trim - Rusty2009 - 27:th-Jul-2015 You would need the tools a window fitter would have as Wheelan has said its far easier to wrap them on the car. RE: Chrome Window Trim - tucpal - 27:th-Jul-2015 I would not advice removing them just wrap them when on the car RE: Chrome Window Trim - sotoskon - 23:rd-Oct-2015 (28:th-May-2015, 21:50:38)sheppy1 Wrote: My window trim came today!
