Soldering Iron - sheppy1 - 13:th-Feb-2015 Hi all, looking to buy a soldering iron to carry out a few of the projects on my astra and on a budget as I have spent a lot this month on the car and will be spending more this month. I have done a lot of research and shopping around and found this butane soldering iron: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331451163471?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT My fear is that it may be too big for the tighter areas in the car, anyone use this or one like this or would i be better of with something smaller like this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Butane-Soldering-Wireless-2-In-1/dp/B002OCV5T2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1423844083&sr=8-4&keywords=soldering+iron+butane Thanks Soldering Iron - tucpal - 13:th-Feb-2015 rusty got a nice one a while ago and i am also looking for a good one to do a few SMD conversions Soldering Iron - sheppy1 - 13:th-Feb-2015 Will see what he says when he comes online then bet he paid more than £20 which is all I really want to spend though... Soldering Iron - tucpal - 13:th-Feb-2015 yep i remember it was expensive Soldering Iron - Rusty2009 - 13:th-Feb-2015 Here's the one I got very good bit of kit, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2in1-852D-SMD-Soldering-Rework-Station-Hot-Iron-Air-holder-5-Tips-3-Nozzles-/331076222245?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item4d15ae3d25 just remember you get what you pay for, cheap won't last long. Soldering Iron - tucpal - 13:th-Feb-2015 it does look the business. Soldering Iron - Rusty2009 - 13:th-Feb-2015 You can pay over £300 for one of these but it has a lot options etc this seem good for what I do with it. Soldering Iron - sheppy1 - 13:th-Feb-2015 Guess it's the same as anything, can spend as much as you'd like too can't you...any idea if the ones I posted would be any good? Soldering Iron - Rusty2009 - 13:th-Feb-2015 I would go for a plug in one TBH. Soldering Iron - sheppy1 - 13:th-Feb-2015 I have a plug in one but can't use it in the car because there's no way to get a socket to it Soldering Iron - Rusty2009 - 13:th-Feb-2015 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4WAY-25M-CABLE-EXTENSION-REEL-LEAD-MAINS-SOCKET-HEAVY-DUTY-ELECTRICAL-NEW-/131404313042?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e984eb1d2 Soldering Iron - sheppy1 - 13:th-Feb-2015 I live in flats...would have to be 3 of those fastened together haha Soldering Iron - Rusty2009 - 13:th-Feb-2015 Ain't there a plug socket in the entrance for the cleaners to hover etc? I always that at my sisters flat when doing any work even in her flat lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Soldering Iron - sheppy1 - 13:th-Feb-2015 It's not a typical flat, it's an apartment style flat so doesn't have one of those entrances...just a front door and a the car is past a central garden and through some gates :( Will just go for the pencil style one, should be good enough |
