HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - tucpal - 25:th-Feb-2014 GENERAL AND THINGS TO CHECK....... This How to is for the Heated Leather Seats And Electric Lumber Support on the Astra J 5 Door I have been Told this will Work for the GTC as well. The first Thing you are Going to do is to Check the Rear Fuse Box in the Rear Boot and look for a Fuse in Position (21) a (25 amp) Fuse should be There if so you are all Good to go. The First thing to do here is to Discontent the Battery just to be on the Safe side as there are Air Bags in the Seats and Better to be Safe than Sorry. The next thing to Check is the Main Seat Connector under the Drivers and Passengers Seats. Just lift the Flap under the Seat and you will see the Connector Pull the Orange Tab out and Pull the Connector apart. it will be Fixed to the Car with by a Tab that you will Need to Pull out so you can see the Main body Side Connector And Check the pins are there you need The Seat Side Connector is Unimportant. As this will be on your new Seat. Now Check that you have all the Pins in the Picture like This But (10) and (13) may be Missing for the Lumber Support you will be Adding them Later on if they are not There. If all the Pins are there Apart from (10) and (13) you are Good to go for the Heated Seats but you Need to add Power and Ground for the Lumber Support next in position (13, Ground Lumber) And Position (10, battery positive lumber). LUMBER SUPPORT HOW TO........... You may have the Pins already There So this will not be a Problem for you. And you may have the ground there also and just need the power if so skip the ground how to and go straight to adding the power. But in my Case they both were not There I added the Two Missing Pins to the Body Side Connector Position (13 is ground) so add the Pin to the Drivers Seat Connector Body side and Run the Wire under the Carpet and under the Center Console to the Passenger seat just Remove the Trim on each side of the Center Console They just Pull off and then Push the Wire through to the Other side. Then add a Pin to Position (13) on the Passenger Seat Body side Connector Splice the Driver Seat wire and the Passenger Seat Wire Together and Run the Wire to a Ground Point and fix it there i Removed the Glove Box and just Behind there you will Find a good Earth Point. For Glove Box Removal Follow the Link. How-to Remove Glove Box For the Power add a Pin to Position (10) on the Drivers seat Connector Body Side and again run the Wire to the Passenger Seat Under the Carpet and through the Center Console the add a pin to position 10 on the passenger seat connector body side Then Splice the Two Wires Together And run the Wire under the Carpet too the Fuse Box in the Glove Box Remove the (10 amp fuse) from (Position 16) as this is Live but has No Use Then add a Piggy Back Fuse with Two (10 Amp Fuses) Too Position (16 in the Glove Box Fuse box). This will give the Power for the Lumber Support to work This is best Wired up when the Seats are out of the Car So you can Route the wires under the Carpet the Pins in the Connector are the same ones Used for the Power Fold Mirrors. My car doesn't have it but I've spoken to some people on other forums and also in a local garage and they don't seem phased by it...they still think it can be done... HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - tucpal - 1:st-Feb-2015 Is it a GTC or ASTRA j you have you would be the first i know of who does not have it possibly you would need to change the fuse board over to get the power for the heated seats HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 1:st-Feb-2015 tucpal Wrote:Is it a GTC or ASTRA j you have I have the 5 door J Energy model from 2013. I have opened the little compartment on the left inside the boot and it's empty...that's where the board would be isn't it? And by change it over do you mean actually busy and install one? Basically i have bought the seats but now really need to know what would be the best way of fitting them to get everything working HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - tucpal - 1:st-Feb-2015 do you mean you do not have a fuse board at all ?? if you do your 100% dont have the fuses marked here HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 1:st-Feb-2015 tucpal Wrote:do you meen you do not have a fuse board at all ?? Nope! Compartment is completely empty except from a few black wires which seem to disappear behind the bodywork HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - tucpal - 1:st-Feb-2015 Rusty do you know why this is ?? there may be a way but i need to check the wiring the lumber is easy as explained in the how to and i take it you do not have the heater control's as yet have you checked the connector under the seat and checked you have all the pins in there also HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 1:st-Feb-2015 tucpal Wrote:Rusty can you enplane this ?? I haven't bought it yet no, was going too tomorrow or when I get the seats...And I'll be checking for the pins and connecters tomorrow too, haven't been able too as only really knew I would be able to get the seats a few hours ago. To be honest I'm more than likely going to get a garage to do most of this for me, I'm not fantastic when it comes to auto electrics! I take it you don't run a garage do you? Would just ask you to do it if so and pay you ha HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - tucpal - 1:st-Feb-2015 it may not be as easy as you think if you do not have the fuse board at all you may well not have any pins in the connector and if they are not there then there is no wiring at all to the heated seat controls heated seat control module and the body control module so this will or may not work at all you need to take the connector apart and check the pins first you can just have the seats without the heated seats HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 1:st-Feb-2015 tucpal Wrote:it may not be as easy as you think I don't think it will be easy at all tbh! Ha. The garage I spoke too seemed to think there would be a way even without the fuse box though, he just said that there's always a way. But with regards to the lumbar support, is this just controlled via on seat controls once wired up or is this controlled from the centre console? Again i'd actually get a garage to do this too, I don't mind doing some mechanic work but I don't trust myself with electrical stuff! Thanks for your help so far btw. Just worried about getting these seats now and then finding out I can't actually do anything with them :( HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - tucpal - 1:st-Feb-2015 the lumber support will just need power and ground adding to the correct pins on the seat connection and works from a button on the seat that bit is easy. Drivers seat.. Position 10 positive to a piggy back fuse in position 16 glove box fuse box Position 13 ground to you nearest grounding point Nut behind the glove box. and if you have lumber support on both seats wire them up the same and just join the wires to the wires you have just done for the drivers seat. the heated seats are a different matter all together and will all depend on what pins you have in the connector under the seat. HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - tucpal - 1:st-Feb-2015 Also Welcome sheppy you will get alot more help on here mate from actual Astra j owners if you look at the door card removal how to on here and the ambient door lights how to you will find the other info you have been looking for HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - Rusty2009 - 1:st-Feb-2015 No Idea why there is no rear fuse-board they might of changed something but I can only check up-to 2011 wiring and pins for free otherwise it's £10 to go online and check them. Unless it's because it's base model. The first thing I would do is check the connector under the seat, and see what you have If you have all the wiring then we need to trace it. Where are based I'm in Bournemouth if that's any good. HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 1:st-Feb-2015 tucpal Wrote:the lumber support will just need power and ground Right got ya! Now this diea seem doable which is what I wanted to hear! only problem we have now is that I'm useless when it comes to wiring and electrics...I mean I want to give this a go myself but wondering if id be safer getting someone else to do it with you instructions.. Regardless, I'll have a check in that connector and report back Also thanks for the welcome! Seems like a great forum to be honest, lots of good how tos! Have already checked out the ambient light one hehe. My other thing is trying to work out how to wire my gear stick light in because the plug doesn't seem to be giving out the power I need :( HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 1:st-Feb-2015 Rusty2009 Wrote:No Idea why there is no rear fuse-board they might of changed something but I can only check up-to 2011 wiring and pins for free otherwise it's £10 to go online and check them. Hi rusty! What's this check for then? And also would tracing the wiring (if I had it) then show you where the connectors are going too instead of this rear fuse box? Hmmmm unfortunately not :( I live just outside of manchester.. HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - Rusty2009 - 1:st-Feb-2015 I can check what you have fitted from the factory etc, well if you have the wires in the connectors under the seats then we know they go somewhere, it could be that they only run so far though the car or it could be that go off somewhere else. TBH you most likely could take the power from elsewhere for the heated seats if need be. HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 1:st-Feb-2015 I think that's what the garage was planning yanno, they seemed pretty sure they could do it regardless of what fuses boxes I had. As I said I'm gonna chech the connector today, is there only one cable to unplug from the battery so that I don't blow the airbags? HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - Rusty2009 - 1:st-Feb-2015 Just pull the negative off and give it 10-30 mins to shut all the systems down Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 2:nd-Feb-2015 Any idea how much the heater controls are, part number GM 13360100? Thanks HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - Rusty2009 - 2:nd-Feb-2015 £150 ish new HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - sheppy1 - 2:nd-Feb-2015 Rusty2009 Wrote:£150 ish new oh crap...I only thought they were £50!!! May have to just get the lumbar support sorted for now and the heating controls etc. done at another date...That can be done can't it, don't need the console controls to do anything except activate the heated seats do I? HOW TO FIT leather heated seats and electric lumber support - tucpal - 2:nd-Feb-2015 it will all depend on the connector and what pins are in there we know you dont have the fuse so no power so check that first then i can work out what is missing as i said it is not that straight forward doing the heated seats as you might think just fit the seats first then try the button on the side of the seat and see if the lumber support moves if not we need to add power and ground then they will work no problems at all on that one last time i checked the heater controls were about £180. and second hand ones are rare for the standard AC controls |
