Temperature gauge

Just been out for a hours drive and the temp gauge only went up to quarter of the way , then on the way back the gauge was reading cold and then got a message saying that ac has been tuner off due to high engine temp. I stopped and checked the coolant levels but that seemed fine. Any advice would be great as I’m not too good with mechanics but if it’s a fairly easy fix will have a go myself as funds are a bit tight lately.

Hi just joined the forum today, I’m picking my new toy up on Monday and am already looking at bits and pieces, I don’t have the money spare to splash out on a dear intake system like K and N or air ram etc... so my question is, I know I won’t get any performance enhancement with a cheap air filter I just want sound lol, but will they damage my car in anyway ?? Thanks

Hi everyone I need help urgently.
Long story short some ***** went into my car door so I’ve got a second hand one which I need to respray. But I need the window down to fully strip it.
I’ve tried powering the main loom but nothing. Even went straight to the motor still nothing.
Can anyone shed any light.
Many thanks.

sat nav antennas

Are there different sat nav antennas? i mean i imagine they will be different for the different cars, but do they all work the same?
I pulled this one off an astra in the scrappers, not sure what radio it had as it was gone, but the antenna has 3 connections... all those fakra types... so i presume it's got fm, dab and sat nav?
WP_20180405_16_01_46_Pro.jpg (Size: 36.68 KB / Downloads: 208)
i pulled the antenna wires out best i could... was weird how they were all three together till the drivers seat, then one of them split off and went up under the instrument panel (with a conector about where the accelerator pedal is) then it carried on up a bit, then across the instrument loom and into the radio area,
the other 2 cables went left, across the front of the seat area, then into the gear shift space, where there was a 2 pole connector, then they went up into the radio space... annoyingly those 2 cables had been cut by the monkey who removed the radio (and the ends left in the car, so he prolly cut a tie wrap and sliced the antenna cables)
Anyhoo, i'm slowly amassing the parts for a navi950 system in my meriva B, got the colour screen and meriva specific mount, and now hopefully an antenna.... if i can find another car with those 2 short lengths of cable from the join by the gear stick,
but i think the navi950 has 2 antenna connections.. having dab built in?
so do i need to look for a combiner for the fm and dab parts of the antenna... or should i look for a better antenna?
Oh, and anyone got a navi950 main unit and button panel to sell me cheap

Rain sensor (meriva B)

Don't suppose anyone knows the difference between the round rain sensors, as fitted to corsa's, meriva B's, zafiras and some other vauxhalls,
They have a 2 letter code on them, SA, SB, SC and SD.
On ebay it seems the SD one is for the meriva B, i know the SC one is for corsa's, as i got one from a corsa at the scrappers,
I've wired it in... power and earth taken from the supply to the auto dipping mirror i fitted a few weeks ago (takne from the relevent pins on the BCM as if it were factory fitted),
and the data line to pin 20, plug X1 on the BCM.
I changed the variant programming in the BCM and the IPC to show rain/light sensor present, and the infrared led's in the ring of the sensor light up (seen via my phone camera.. and cameras see infrared) the led's only illuminate when pin 3.. data is connected to the sensor... and i checked globaltis and corsa's use the same sensor pin assignments.. 1 power, 2 earth, 3 data.
But it's not doing the sensign thing.. and tech2 says sensor malfunction.... i'm wondering if i have a duff sensor, or it really must be the SD variant for my car...
Don't suppose anyone has a SD variant sensor to sell me?
Also, if i fit the auto light switch, will i get auto lights? or is there another sensor used for that.. in tech2 i see 'tunnel detection' and i've read some cars use the sun strength sensor in the little nipple on the dash, which i dont have (i will have it when i change the heater unit over to full auto/dual zone, but thats a big project for much later.

Hi, I have a 1.6 auto SRi and the avergage MPG doesn't get any higher than 22 which is really low. Driving it as efficiently as I possibly can.
Can something else be wrong?

Back-order parts through garage

Has anyone had any experience with waiting times for parts that are on back-order through a garage? It is a vauxhall garage if that influences anything. I've been waiting for 8 weeks now for a new front bumper for my 2017 GTC Ltd Ed after a minor accident. I realise that the bumper has the styling from the VXR and as such might not be as easy to get, i just thought that 8 weeks was a long time for a new model.
Apologies if this is in the wrong section.
