  Software calibration numbers
Posted by: gazz292 - 11:th-Apr-2018, 15:26:10 - Forum: Retrofit Research - Replies (4)

Been messing about, and on the american tis site there's something for getting calibration numbers of equipment in your car...

https://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web/

Are they just the file numbers the Tech2 / MDI uses normally to download the software onto the car's modules?

would they just be used to check if a module has the latest / correct software on it?

or could those software codes be used somehow to tell the tech2 / MDI what software to load on if it wasnt letting you do so automatically.

It all looks similar to when i do the SPS on my car with the Tech2, i.e. select the parts fitted to the vehicle in the boxes to build the software file needed to be loaded on.

Park pilot connectors.... are these them?
Posted by: gazz292 - 10:th-Apr-2018, 21:17:06 - Forum: Retrofit Research - Replies (4)

My meriva (B, 2011) has had a rear end shunt at some time, and had a replacement bumper,  car was specc'd to have the full front and rear park pilot,  it has the button on dash, but it's dead,

the rear has a cheapo reversing sensor system installed, and i wanted to re-establish the factory park pilot system sometime.. i first thought the front bumpers been replaced too, and has no sensors in it... but no, the sensors are there and still wired up,  then i removed some trim panels in the boot, and found what i think are the park pilot plugs... are these them??

If they are, i think i need a park pilot module (some on ebay from 11 quid)
4 sensors... chinese copies are 4 for 25 quid.
The rear loom that connects the sensors to the purple plug?  that is a bugger to get cheap, might have to try and source the connectors and make me own loom up,

And i'd need the stick on sensor mounts... a quick search shows some for BMW's at a fiver for 4!!, and some for vauxhalls ones like 7 quid plus each! yet they say they are the same size sensors,

Wonder if i could buy the clip in sensor mounts as used on the retro fit park pilot system, or pull some off a scrapper and bond them on myself..

oh, then i need to ensure the holes drilled in the bumper for the cheap reverse sensors are in the right place and size.. then add the park pilot back to the system in the BCM and IPC,

have i covered it all?  anything to watch out for, and any one got a rear sensor loom going cheap... or all or some of the parts i need for a good price.

CD400, in meriva B, mid-speed can-bus off, wont allow can learn
Posted by: gazz292 - 10:th-Apr-2018, 21:05:57 - Forum: ICE - Replies (3)

Wondering if anyones had this before?
2011 meriva B (1.3 cdti) CD400 with GID,
always been getting the following code on the radio: U0074

The other 2 codes are for the IPC, as im still messing with it...

but i was getting that U0074 code when i only had an op-com for diagnosis, so it's not the clone tech2 giving a fake code, and i was getting it before i ever touched anything electrical in the car.

The Tech2 gives an option to do a can bus re-learn on most modules... it asks if ignition is on, i press the button to say it is, then i'm instructed to turn ignition off, a bar progresses across screen, told to turn ignition back on, procedure completed.

Except if i try that with the radio... it fails the second i press the soft key button to confirm the ignition is turned on, does the same if i've turned ignition off, Tech2 gives a low beep, and it says 'failed'

the multimedia module communicates fine, and i've done a can-bus relearn on all modules i can, the radio always refuses. the radio is working fine as far as i can tell.

had a look behind the radio, and there is a wire out... not sure where it's from tho... there's no empty terminal in the block,  it's a shield that's loose... looks almost as if deliberately done:

That 'could' be the shield for the mid speed can bus i suppose??, and would explain why it says it's off... except i can actually communicate with the radio, i can do the speaker test from the Tech2, so it's talking to it somehow.

i know i want to replace the CD400 for a navi system sometime (anyone selling a navi950 for a good price, i want one) but i want to be sure that the car is wired fine before i do that, as i imagine i'll have a lot of wiring changes to make for that mod.

I've been here a few days now but got so engrossed in reading all the threads I forgot to say Hi.

I'm the new owner of a Met Black 2013 GTC 2.0 Diesel.

I can see myself spending a fair few ££ after reading this forum.

On my list will be the V5754 Android unit as I need Bluetooth and DAB, Short shifter and remap to name just a few.

Cheers all

Tyres - what have you got on your car ?
Posted by: Dennis S - 8:th-Apr-2018, 17:10:08 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (11)

My Astra will soon be needing a couple of tyres, and at 235 45 r18 size they won't be cheap.
I don't like to use cheap tyres, they are often dangerous in the wet, but on the other hand I don't much fancy paying £150 a tyre for premium tyres either.
What kind of tyres are you using and what do you think of them...?
