Hi all,
Just introducing myself, recently purchased an Astra J SRi 2015 1.4T and hopefully picking it up today or tomorrow, getting a fresh mot and service before I collect it. Noticed this forum has a lot of very detailed information hoping I'd become a regular user here. Been looking at any common faults or things to look out for with this particular model. Any suggestions on what I should look out for when I pick it up?
Welcome to VXOC.

Most common I believe is coil packs on the 1.4/1.6
Hi Rusty. Thanks for your reply.
Been driving the car for the past three days and so impressed with it, upgraded from a Mazda 2 and got to say its such a nice car compared to the Mazda.

I've hooked up a vxdiag to it today just to see any previous DTC codes and noticed P0299 was on there. This might relate to an issue I've found:

When I'm in 3rd gear or 4th, and I hit around 3k rpm, the car goes limp (no service message or engine light), just feels sluggish until I let go of the throttle then slowly accelerate. Been trying to read up more about this but I'm just curious if you have any insight on this? Heard this issue is common with the 1.6 cdti being the turbo solenoid but not sure if its the same with the 1.4T
I know the 2.0cdti can suffer from this and it's mostly due to the turbocharger wastegate actuator control failing.
On the 1.4 the part number should be 55574902

But you should really have the car tested and properly diagnosed before buying parts.

Thank you for your response - Definitely will look at having the car tested and diagnosed, just need to find somewhere local that won't charge stupid amounts for diagnosis.
I have noticed this morning mind that there's a bit of an oil leak from the intercooler pipe towards the throttle body, quite a bit of oil dripped from there onto the engine, wondering if this can be related to the fault I have
