Hi all,

I have a 2012 Astra J 1.3 CDTi, only had the car for 6 weeks now, when i went to view it it was fine, started fine was in really good condition in and out so decided to purchase it.
The next morning it took ages to start and when it eventually did was a bit chuggy till it warmed up.
I took it too a mechanic who said there were 3 codes which related to glowplug 1,2 and 3, so i had him change all four. After having this done, it was fine for about 10 days now seem to have gone back to non starting and chugging.

So would it be normal for them to go again? cold there be something they are connected too that could short them out?

Before i go back to the mechanic a bit of info or ammo from some enthusiasts who know these cars would really help.

Thank You
Mark.
There is a glow plug module too.

Glow plugs are only used to start a cold engine after the engine has started the glow plugs shut down.

What would really help is knowing the fault codes as we can then advise further.
Hi, there are no fault codes, there were but have now gone as has the service vehicle soon message.

I did not write the old codes down but they related to glow plug 1 no circuit or something very similar, had three codes for plug 1,2,3.

I have a diagnostic reader on my laptop with an ELM reader that I used to get the first codes and had it fixed. I did try buying 3 different Opcom units but none would work with my car.
I noticed this morning that if I turn the key on wait for the glow plug light to go out and do this 3 times and then a few pumps on the accelerator pedal as turning over it started after a few turns over, with out the pedal pumps it will just turn and turn for a little while then give up then try again it will go but is chugging for the first 20/30 secs.
Not sure if any of this helps.
The codes that were there before were:

P0671
P0672
P0673

These are not present anymore since i had the glowplugs changed, and the Service Vehicle Soon message.

So what can i check to hopefully get this rectified??

Its a bit embarassing sitting outside shops and work with a newish car that wont start just turning over.

Is there a temp sensor (Water / Oil) that could be misreporting making the glow plugs non responsive?

Could i attached a bulb to the glowplug wire to see if it is getting power and for how long?

Thank You, Mark
