Hi Guys/Girls,

Just got my first Astra GTC a couple months ago, thinking about a remap to give it abit extra go go.

Its a 2016 1.4 GTC sri with 138bhp currently, most quotes ive received for remapping estimate and increase to 170bhp.

I'm a complete newbie to car mods and just wondering if this is worth the cost and would i notice a lot of difference?

Thanks for the help. (sorry if its a stupid question)
Hi mate, welcome to the forum.
I suppose it depends on the price, I have a 2.0 Cdti 165bhp as standard with a 39bhp Racechip that cost £129 but I was thinking about a stage1 remap (210bhp) which I can get for £349. I just don’t know if it’s worth that much for the extra 6bhp?
I would always remap over box as long as it's a proper remap custom to your car.

Hi Thanks,

They are quoting me £250 which i don't think is too bad, however i can get a Racechip or bluespark tuning box for around £150, not as much power (only 5bhp less) but then i can also remove the boxs and keep my warranty on the car. Has the racechip been worth it for yourself?

Will have to see how much of my next paycheck i have left and then decide i think haha.
To be honest I was more impressed with the pedal box as it made the power instant!!! The chip is like an added bonus!! ??
I was looking for a remap and was quoted the same price (I have the GTC2.0 CDti). Some people were saying I would need to upgrade parts and others said you don't unless its a stage 2 remap. So I never bothered

That’s true, my quote was for a stage 1 for standard cars, stage 2 is for uprated parts ie. bigger turbo/intercooler etc.
I’m still thinking of getting it done later in the year and selling my racechip to put towards the cost

Hi just to update you had remap done a courtnay sport first dyno was reading 134bhp even though it was a 120bhp car..we have done a few mods before like k&n typhoon induction kit, powerflow cat back exhaust, forge re circ valve...so yeah was really suprised and excited what was going to happen once mapped.
Dyno after map gave the figures of 189bhp and 200nm torque which was very pleasing to see the car is way better and more responsive all through the gears.

Maaaaaaan. Reading that has made me want to get it done now lol
I wouldn't remap my Astra since it uses M32 gearbox which officially max. limited to 320nm torque. Anything above 340nm causes serious degradation as I read on Alfa forums whose use 1.9 Jtd with same M32 gearbox.

Where was it for £250? I have been quoted £350 same engine with a projected increase to 162.

Cheers
I've been qouted an array of prices.

£350, £450 & £700-750 the last one said that he would not remap the car if he wasn't happy with it, so it would be fully road tested have a full health check injectors would be checked etc etc. Only once he was happy would he remove the ECU and start working on it.
