I have an Astra J 1.4 turbo which the other week I knocked a hose off which is held on with a little plastic clip and radiator coolant was pumping out like a fountain (as car engine was running). It is the hose that T off another hose and leads to the expansion tank (smaller pipe), as I said the T hose is held on with a little plastic clip. [Image: d3bb9c25ea3ae3e81be225f17ed8d84a.jpg]

When I put it all back together I noticed it kept leaking coolant from the same area so I thought a little o-ring washer must of come off when the water pumped out. So I put a new o-ring washer on which solved to issue.

However I think there is air in the system now as whenever I take the car for a bit of a run and stop steam keeps coming out of the expansion tank.

Can someone please tell me the correct procedure for bleeding the Astra j 1.4 turbo.

I did look on there but doesn’t seem very clear on what to do.

Think I may have done it now. I took the bleed screw out of the radiator then put it back by one turn. Took the expansion tank cap off and started the car. Watch the tank levels and kept the level in between min and max. Then as the car warmed up and coolant started to come out of the bleed screw I tightened it back up. Then put the expansion tank cap on and undid the bleed screw one last time until coolant came out and did back up. Let car cool down and top up if needed.
