Dose fitting a k&n air filter make any difference

Yeah, it will make you 50 quid poorer and you'll probably end up with oil clogging your MAF sensor. Smile Little or no performance increase.

Don't know how you would have oil clogging the MAF as I have a dibilas flowmaster kit on my car with a cold air feed which has a k&n panel filter in the housing and I have no oil residue, there used to be rumours that the panel filter caused oil residue but to me that's rumours. With the other point I would agree on probably waste of money getting one if the car is standard as I have mine mapped etc that's why I went down the flowmaster route. Only other way you could have oil on the MAF is if the seals on the turbo were on the road out.

That's my cold air feed set up there. Since the original was quite restrictive.

Dbilas setup is not standard so you are not comparing apples with apples then..... Excessive oiling of the k&n causes MAF problems. Lots of posts about that.. Smile

Dibilas setup has a k&n panel filter inside the housing lol that's why I mentioned it, so still the same as above only a slight different housing with a bigger air intake prior to the filter. So as I mentioned above it's still the same and have had no issues it's more so the cone filters with induction kits that I have heard some times have the oil residue on them. Excessive oiling does cause MAF issues but not all k&n filter require oiling there is other brands out there as well where some require oiled but mine doesn't and you can get others that don't either. Depends what spec you go for.

I've had my K&N panel filter for over 5yrs now not had a single issue with it.

Cleaned and re-oiled in that time too.

Your right it doesn't make much difference to a standard car.

I'll disagree with it being a waste of money tot up how many genuine air filters you would need to buy over your ownership of the car.
True never thought about it that way lol was just thinking about it performance wise lol but when it comes to servicing and replacing filters yeah it would definately work out cheaper on that basis.

Yeah, free delivery as well. Seemed too good to pass up. I swore I'd never to buy another K&N after the last one I had in my civic got thrown out when the car went in for a service. Worse than that, I never noticed for ages until I opened the airbox one day when I wanted to see how the K&N filter was doing to my horror is was not there........ Smile
Fitted. Quite an improvement in engine response. Money well spent. Smile [Image: 3489ac6c28e204325fab362a20125e58.jpg]
