Their seems to be a good bit of corrosion on the underneath of my opel astra (2012 model). Has anyone else experienced this? Were they not treated with a high quality corrosive paint. I don't drive through water that would touch the underneath of the body. I do live on the west coast of Irl so their would be an element of salt water but surely it shouldn't cause this so noticeably.

Any suggestions as to how to rectify this?

I would post pictures but for some reason my attempts to upload them fail.
Have you had your yearly corrosion checks done and book stamped by an Opel dealer ? I would think that Opel would have the same 6 year anti corrosion warranty as Vauxhall.
To put your photos on here I think you'd need to first join an image hosting website such as Photobucket then post the link to your photos on here.
Thanks for reply dennis s.

I have had the car serviced every year for the 5 years within 12 months in an authorised opel dealership but they never stamped the section regarding corrosion. They just stamped the normal service section. I will try upload pictures tomorrow.
Here in the UK Vauxhall charge £30 to carry out an inspection on the bodywork and underneath to stamp your your book.

My mechanic does it and stamps the book for me while he does the service.

For photo's DO NOT USE Photobucket best finding another hosting site.
My dealer doesn't charge anything to update the book to say they've carried out the corrosion inspection.

Mind you, when I go in to collect the car, I check they have filled it out and stamped it, and if they haven't, I ask them to. That's probably why I haven't been charged - lol.

Still, at the end of the day the book is up to date, and I could argue with Vauxhall if there were any corrosion issues that the book has been stamped to say they've carried it out.
