hi, i have a gtc 1.7cdti and it has a cd400 :( it has been working fine since i got the car about 6 months ago then i noticed last week when i plugged in a memory stick into the usb to play music it froze, the radio works as well as the cd and even the aux but when i go onto usb nothing plays and it is stuck on one song 00:00, i went to a vaxhaull specialist who told me to disconnect the battery for 5 mins and re connect it and this could reset it but if that doesnt work its because vaxhaulls need to update the software on my radio.

the battery trick didnt work so i rang vauxhall and they said it will be £80 to just look at the car cus it is out of warranty so i obviously said no. Is there any other way of fixing this issue that anyone knows of?

thanks in advance

james
Why don't you try a new USB port? I bought the whole centre console thingy with aux in Port, usb and power socket for 20 quid off ebay.

format the memory stick and put some music on it then try again... there is no option to "remove" the drive safely in the car and I've found i need to format it every now and again
Please note the USB's can be a pita alot of cheap USB sticks have problems, Scandisk seem's to be the most reliable brand that works.

Or it could be a corrupt file on the stick causing the issue.

So I would first try another USB stick with only a couple of files on it if that doesn't work and you believe it is a software update I know a lad up Liverpool who can check it and update it for you.
i have used the usb stick in my partents corsa and it works fine and have also tried to use another one in mine but it still wont budge i am considering upgrading my whole head unit, has anyone ever used car vison as they look like they have a good head unit upgrade and you can pay monthly or does anyone know of any other alternatives? i have seen the andriod ones that people on here have installed but to pay out like £500-£600 for it with installation is a lot in one go and i wana pay it over 12 months... any suggestions?
I have just seen a few posts regarding car vision and it looks like I should stay away so does anyone no of any places that do the android head units but u can pay in installments as I doubt a bank would do a loan for 500 or how ever much it costs with installation as I can't do it myself
Yes stay well away of car vision.

Have a look at the sticky threads in this section there is one about the M072 unit which most of our members have.

You can install it yourself it's so easy and the guys here are always willing to help.

I wouldn't be confident fitting it myself am not car savvy but I wouldn't mind paying to have it fitted, I just thought as I have a c 400 and the screen is smaller than this would I need to buy a new surround which is bigger or not?

Sorry I have just looked online an answered my own question but I do have one last one if you buy just the unit. ..and for me the installation will the satnav work cus I noticed on icebox website it says you can but something for the satnav or is it build in ready to use?
Hi, I've got the Car Vision unit fitted, had it now over 12 months and cannot fault it at all.

I wanted a unit that looked factory fit and kept the original Vauxhall OEM DAB and Bluetooth etc.

The only issue the unit has, is that you can only have one Bluetooth feed switched on, either the Vauxhall or the Drive Audio one. Not both!

I decided just to use the Vauxhall one, but I could have easily unpaired my phone from the CD400 and connected it to the Drive Audio Bluetooth instead. Both have there advantages and disadvantages.

Other than that you keep/gain DAB, 2 x USB Ports, Sat Nav with speed cam locations, DVD (Optional) and Reversing Camera (Again Optional).

Have a look at the link above and speak to John, I spent nearly an hour on the phone to him before I took the plunge. I would also recommend that you take advantage of the Drive In free fitting as well, if you decide your interested.

I had Nav CD 500 in my first 2010 (Brand New) Astra J 5 Door and the Navi 600 in my 2013 Astra GTC 1.6T (Brand New) and wanted something similar in my Astra J VXR. When I bought the car new in 2015 the dealer did me such a good deal on the car that I bought it without the Sat Nav. My thinking was I wouldn't be driving this car as much as I drove my first Astra Diesel.

Over the first 10 months I realised that the Astra J VXR is indeed a car that you can use every day and with this I was soon missing my Sat Nav. This unit is as good if not better than the other two factory units I have had in the past, plus I now have speed camera warnings as well.

Map updates are also only £26.00.

That's an interesting review actually. I've seen others not so favourable towards the CV unit. What's the screen quality like? I heard that they suffer in the sun where you struggle to see it?

Loosing factory DAB is one of the main reasons that stops me getting the android unit. I spent time and money having it installed and I don't think I'm willing to lose it as an option. Does the CV unit integrate seamlessly with the Vauxhall DAB and BT?

The last photo is on a sunny day (I changed my silver surround to black, not sure if I like it yet) so yes the sun does affect view when really bright. Factory fit DAB and Blue Tooth are completely unaffected.

I do know the earlier versions of the CV unit had problems but the unit I have is the latest version and is brilliant.

One thing I will say though...if you want to stream BT from your phone etc. you will have to turn the factory BT off and use theirs. Factory BT does not allow streaming where as the CV BT does. This doesn't bother me as I decided stick with the factory BT and leave my phone plugged in.

You have an additional USB multi port in the glove box and I leave my phone plugged into it so I can...play all my music via the CV iPod link, listen to factory USB, DAB, micro SD stored music, CD, answer the phone via factory BT and use Sat Nav all very easily.

Well worth the money in my opinion.

Look at the reviews online and speak to CV before buying anything.

I'm that impressed with this unit, I've had the CD500 and Navi600 in my last two Astra J's, that I share my findings. The CD400 / CD400+ are both old tech and this unit looks factory. Some other units look cheap, I'm a believer in that you get what you pay for!!

I had this unit installed by CV and they know their stuff.

Hope this help?

Brilliant, thanks! I don't have factory BT anyway so I'd have to have the units BT enabled for use. I take it you don't lose the steering wheel controls at all?

Nope, steering wheel controls work as per original.
All usual functions work after installation.
So I have just rang Icebox auto to talk about think am gona go with the M072 don't really wana use car vision not a fan of the interface wana get rid of the the red screen, they said they have to order them in so I need to leave a deposit of £20 to confirm the order, has anyone ever used them direct to fit it as I wouldn't install it myself an do people ever have any problems with the M072 as it looks like a lot of people have talked about getting them but not seen to many people that have them Smile
What he charges to install is well over the top I only charge £30 to fit them.
I no I thought it was a bit steep but they give you a 2 year warranty as well, am waiting for my new bank card to arrive before I order it but he said he will have to order them in from where ever he gets them from, any idea how long it takes?

And am up in Liverpool your not near me are you? Otherwise I'd get you to do it haha
No I'm in Bournemouth.

You could try Andy from VXmods.

It's fine I'd rather them just do it cus if they mess up they are the ones who offer the warranty so I can just take it back to them, no messing around then don't no how long it will b but Al put a pic or two up when it's done also just changed my lights, drl's to led an my projectors to Xenon an I wana get an armrest so Al do a little progress post Smile
