Hey guys and girls just thought I would post looking for some advice.  Got a 2010 Astra j Sri with 35k on the. Lock and recently I've been having a service vehicle soon message pop up more frequently. Tried a mate's code reader but I don't believe it was up to much as it didn't find anything. This coincides with sometimes the engine fan is on 100% at hot and cold start.

Has this happened to anyone else? I get a sort of burning smell in the vents at times also.

Not really even sure where to start but I would rather do as much as I can myself before going to a garage.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice
Hi,

Do you know if any recalls have been carried out?
This sounds like it could be the FAN harness recall, or it could be a temp sensor at fault.

Ring your local dealers and ask if there are recalls outstanding on your car.
It's been in under this warranty

A bit of googling has thrown up the possibility of it being the thermostat/thermostat housing. Is this something I can replace myself or does the coolant etc need drained to do this?

Zafira in disguise lol
Haha hope not

I had this and was the thermostat
How much was it to change the thermostat ?

I think the thermostat is around £60-70 but don't quote me on that price

Right I have an updated situation. Thermostat changed and now getting no dash warnings which is good. However the car still smells really really hot after about a 30 mins drive like a recently boiled dry kettle. What would anyone suggest next for troubleshooting this weird problem?
