Hi guys

Not long had my Astra j elite 2.0 ecoflex as I had a 1.6tdci fiesta before.

What mpg are people getting?

I'm currently driving like a granny. Have never driven so sensible in my life yet only getting 34mpg on a 20mile to work and 20 mile back from work journey. Mostly all long straight roads not stop start.

A full tank says I'll get 450 but have already done a quarter tank and only done 80 or so.
We get about 30mpg from our 2.0cdti 165 S/S A20DTH. Only do about 20 miles per day, all stop start.
46 mpg, mostly motorway. Spirited driving for the rest....

Do any of you guys find that it struggles to go up hills. I hit a hill at around 50mph and had to drop from 5th to 3rd. Same with going round corners my old fiesta 4th gear no problem. 3rd in the Astra and it barely manages it.

Yes I know I should be in second. Lol but you would think a 2.0 would have enough guts to do it.

Since buying it slowly but surely starting to resent chopping in my fiesta zetec s.
The gearing on them is very tall. 4th gear at 50 should see you up the hill easily. Turbo lag pretty much below 1700 rpm.

you should only be driving around town in fourth gear at the most really
if you are cornering in fifth gear you will bog the engine down with low revs
i would not use fifth or sixth unless i am on the motorway
i average 45 46 mpg with the same mileage as you no problem and i have bags of power
you need to alter your driving style
I very rarely go into 5th and 6th around town. Will never use 6th around town even if I'm upto speed as it seems to drink more.

I've never been round a corner in 4th. Was just a comparison to my 90bhp fiesta that would easily let me drop from 5th to 3rd to go round a corner. Where as the Astra I have to go into second.

I use to have a arctic Astra vxr so my driving style is deffiantly more sensible to when I had that. Lol.

I'm looking at getting it remapped at Wg Motorworks as those guys know their stuff when it comes to Vauxhall. 200-210bjp with 340-360 ft lb torque.
I get approx. 40 mpg out of my 2.0 CDTi auto with a mix of urban and extra urban driving. Approx 44 to 45 on motorways.
Mind you, this cold weather, it dropped to 34 mpg last week. Probably because I've been driving it in 2nd & 3rd gear (in tiptronic mode) to work to get the engine temperature up a bit quicker.
Everyone will get a different MPG as no one has the same driving style load and conditions.

A fellas BMW at work smells the same and I always took the piss out of him.

My deisel fiesta never smelt like it but the Astra does. Could it be because they have a dpf?
Could be. First car I've had with dpf .

I was getting around 50mpg on my 100 mile daily commute, however, my journey is mainly on dual carriageways/motorways and I tend to bumble along at about 65mph

The lowest I have seen is around 48mpg and the best I think was around 55mpg
