I was a despatch manager for a number of years but the business moved from Loughborough to Barnsley so I took redundancy. That was over 4 years ago and since then I have been a carer for my son who's got autism. He's high functioning, so he can be a handful when he wants lol.

How much support are you receiving from your local support services, most people I speak to are really sstruggling, not enough money, not enough specialists etc etc

He sees autism outreach about once a month, he gets 15hrs at nursery (12.5 in specialist support class) but generally speaking he spends most of his time in the normal nursery class as he is sociable (just struggles to communicate adequately).
He will be going into a mainstream foundation class with specialist support in September, he could have gone into a dedicated unit but the county wont fund transport as he can go to the same school that he currently goes to as they class him as a unit child even though he isn't actually in a unit.
This will be happening in a lot of academies, they have figured that they can get kids who have learning difficulties who would normally qualify for a unit placement and put them in a mainstream class with specialist support but still get full funding as though the child is in a unit.
Cost cutting is happening everywhere now, not enough educational psychologists or speech therapists and the wait for appointments can be long and drawn out. We were lucky at the time and got everything diagnosed quite quickly compared to a lot of families. It is getting harder though for families to get the help they need and it will only get harder.

I've worked in insurance for nearly my whole working life for the same specialist modified broker.
I've spent the past couple of years as an owners club liaison so working with clubs similar to this one (I really ought to speak to admin lol), I also work in social media but my main role is affiliate development so building relationships and affiliations with every kind of business you could imagine that can promote insurance.
I love my job, I get to spend all day talking to owners clubs, businesses, going to car shows ETC too. It's not all fun and games but on the whole I couldn't be happier and can see myself doing it for a long time to come yet.
I did dabble in automotive glazing for a while but it wasn't for me so I went back to what I know.
