There is a blue cable marked “back” or something like that but you don’t need it. Just again tuck this out of the way somewhere.

Can I just check on the blue wire.

My understanding is that this is a input to the head unit.  It expects 12 volts when reverse gear is engaged, which forces the head unit to turn on, and select the reverse camera input.

I can see that the head unit might notice video arriving on the reverse camera input and select that, without the blue wire being necessary.  But does this happen if the head unit is turned off and you engage reverse?

Thanks
Jonathan.
The head unit does indeed shoe the video feed even when the unit is off or still powering up

Sports tourer number Plate camera is very scarce . There was someone else back a few months ago who couldn't find one. Happy hunting.

Good evening guys,

I am in a process of installing a camera, and the above write up is great!

So I am assuming the following process:

1. Pull the cables through to the boot ( done )
2. Connect the red wire into the green/white wire in the fuse compartment
3. Ground the black wire
4. Run the cables to the HU ( M072 for me )

One question though... what do I do with the short red wire on each end of the RAC leads?

EDIT: If I get the 12V from the above mentioned green/white reverse light wire is it likely that I will have problems with the CANbus ( flickering with ignition on etc. )?

Many thanks
Ignore the red wires on each end of the RCA cable.

No you won't have any problems.
Thanks Rusty!

I have just had a play with the wiring and to my suprise a voltage tester ( screwdriver with an led ) is not getting anything from the green/white wire.
Is this right?

On a closer inspection of the actual reverse light I can see that there are 3 wires going into it:

1. Green/white
2. Purple/white
3. Black

Kind of lost now...
UPDDATE:

Wired, conected & working but...

It is really out of sych somehow?!
What I mean is that I could be parked ON a line but the camera would indicate that there is still a fair amount of room between the car and the line.

Any ideas? The unit is M072 and the camera is a "carrover" make from amazon.
I don't know if there are any adjustments on the M072 unit for the camera.

With the factory fitted camera it shows you as being on the line when in fact you are about 5cm off it.
Thanks Rusty
