Hi

I've got a 2014 Astra estate I'm wanting to install hardwire my dash cam and wondering on the best and easiest method

I've had the glove box out and the trim in passenger footwell etc but came a bit stuck when I tried to remove the pillar trim to run cable up the side of the windscreen and along head lining to camera located just behind rear view mirror, so the idea I've had is to possible tap off the interior light, is this easy to remove to get at the wiring? I'm an electrician by trade and have done bits like fitting hands free kits in cars before so the connecting bit isn't a problem it's just removing trim to get at a good supply source

Thanks in advance

I fitted a Dash cam myself, the A pillar does pull off on a new car it will be stiff.

I've fitted a hidden gig lighter behind the glovebox which is ACC controlled
Thanks didn't want to force it to much as think there's air bags in there I'll maybe have another go next weekend

Yes there is a roof airbag that runs along the top but just be-careful don't jam anything in behind apart from a couple of fingers at the top to help pull it.

Here's how I wired my hidden socket up if you wanted it done that way,

Thanks that's worth a look I did try to shove some cable down the a pillar from the top to act as a fish wire but wasn't stiff enough to force all way down to behind the glove box I had originally planned to run the cable all the way back to the cig lighter socket and use a splitter but your way much better then not got loads of plugs and wires
